How to build a complete dart corner at home
A good dart corner is more than a board on the wall. With five components you build a spot that plays like a darts venue and looks sharp in your living room, attic or man cave.
The five parts of a complete dart corner
- Dartboard, the basis. Choose sisal in match size (45.1 cm), such as the Performance Pro or Ultra.
- Surround ring, catches misses and protects your wall. Clamps around the board without drilling.
- Lighting, a 360° LED ring lights the board all around so your own hand casts no shadow.
- Dart mat, fixes the official throwing distance and protects your floor.
- Darts, with spare flights and shafts you play for months without buying more.
Choosing the right spot
You need a strip of roughly 3 metres deep and 1.2 metres wide, with a solid wall. Popular spots: the attic, the garage, a hallway or a quiet corner of the living room. Watch out for walking routes: you do not want housemates crossing your throw line.
Also think about noise: darts in sisal are fairly quiet, but falling darts and footsteps are not. A dart mat dampens both.
All at once or step by step?
Both work. If you start small, choose board plus surround (you only prevent wall damage once). If you want it right in one go, a complete set is better value and you know for sure that all parts match, in size and in looks.
Frequently asked questions
How much space do I need for a dart corner?
Count on a strip 3 metres deep (2.37 m throwing distance plus standing room) and just over 1 metre wide, with at least 1 metre of clear space around the board.
Can a dart corner go in the living room?
Certainly. With a surround ring (wall protection) and a sleek mat, a dart corner looks like a deliberate interior choice rather than a sporting exception.
